Pumpkin Pie Pudding Cake

This is the famous dessert served many Christmas Eve's at Mom and Dad's house. Mom hid an almond in the batter before she baked it. The person that got the almond in their piece of cake won a prize, like a $5 gift certificate to Raley's. The cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves can be substituted for 1 3/4 tsp. pumpkin pie spice.

1 large can pumpkin puree
1 large can evaporated milk
6 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1 stick margarine (melted)
chopped walnuts

Mix together first 8 ingredients (pumpkin through spices) and pour into 9 x 13" pan, greased. Mix margarine and cake mix until crumbly and sprinkle over batter in pan. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Bake at 350 deg until knife comes out clean, usually 45-60 minutes. Top with cool whip or ice cream.
