Today we cleaned up the backyard, hosed off the plastic patio chairs and grill and ate outside. I always get excited because it's like our living space increases over the summer - I love eating and hanging out outside! We invited some new friends in the ward over and made ice cream. We've tried lots of recipes (who really makes ice cream that requires cooking first?!) and found this to make the largest amount and yummiest. We like to add chopped strawberries or peaches when in season. Vanilla Ice-Cream6 eggs - mix until light
gradually beat in:
2 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. vanilla
add until mixed:
16 oz. (2cups) whipping cream
16 oz. (2 cups) half 'n half
1/2 gallon (4-5 cups) whole milk (we use fat free) or fill to line in mixer.
Process according to your ice cream maker instructions. We layer ice and rock salt. the texture is better after it's sat in the ice bath, covered for a while.
