This is a great recipe to use the ground wheat flour that you have in food storage. No rising necessary! It makes a nice, dense bread.
2 tsp. honey
2/3 cup lukewarm water
1 Tbsp. yeast
3 Tbsp. honey
2 cups warm water
3 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups more whole wheat flour
Directions
- Stir 2 tsp. honey into lukewarm water. Sprinkle 1 Tbsp. yeast over the mixture. Set aside for 10 minutes.
- Combine 3 Tbsp. honey with 2 c. warm water and combine with yeast mixture.
- With beaters mix in 3 cups whole wheat flour until smooth and frothy. Add 1/2 tsp. salt. With spoon, mix in 2 cups more whole wheat flour. Dough will be sticky.
- Grease 1 loaf pan and pour-pat dough into pan. Smooth top with wet bottom side of spoon. Allow to raise to top of pan.
- Bake at 400 deg. for 30 minutes. Cool 10 minutes then turn out of pan. Cool before slicing.
